My boyfriend and I are talking marriage in the near future.
I dont think most women would wait around that long to be proposed to... I would just like to see how long you were dating before the proposal and then how long until the wedding day.
Also I know people who dated for years, fineally got married and then split a year or so later. I am just curious as to the time lengths of different relationships........
Wow, don't tell him straight out, but he's way wrong!
It would be most usual to date at least 18 months to two years before being engaged, then another 8 months to a year before getting married.
I knew my husband for a year (I was seriously dating someone else), then we dated for two years before we got married.
We were engaged eight months, and I was 28 when we got married.I think a mature, independent couple knows after two years of DATING seriously, not shacking up, whether or not they are suited for marriage. That's why both men and women need to be careful who they are choosing to date - someone who is a match for a lot of things - if you have marriage in mind, then you need to see there's compatability for religion, how you view the world, your morals, how you feel about families, etc.- as well as having that chemistry, that specialness between you. It’s a question that comes up occasionally within a singles ministry. If you are seriously dating someone, how long should it be before you pop the question?
